“Would you mind…” is a polite way of making requests in English.

Would you mind sending this email to Tom?

A lot of times people will say YES because they want to send the mail but it’s wrong.

Wrong: Yes, I’ll do it.
Correct: Of course not. Let me do it.

If I say “would you mind” I am thinking that it may bother you, perhaps you’re busy, meaning it’s not OK for you.

If you say “Yes.” It means you mind it, it’s not OK. You don’t like to do it. It should be “No. Let me do it,” meaning I don’t mind, it’s OK.

Would you mind vs Could you please

Would you mind closing the windows after work? – No.

Could you please close the window after work? – Yeah, Sure.

Could you please means: “I want you to do it, is it OK?”
